-The slicer is sturdy and very sharp. It works very well with even the hardest of vegetables like carrots and potatoes. The slicer has two sizes which produce a small and larger size spiral. I prefer the smaller spirals, they gave me the best results.
The maker of the slicer suggests a 1 1/2 inch or 1 3/4 inch vegetable to get the best results, I used a standard sized carrot for a second test and it worked appropriately.
Overall on Amazon.com I gave the product a 4 out of 5 stars because I did have some initial trouble with the product.
